About Chef Jared
I come to my love of food naturally. My passion for cooking started at a very young age when, as a little boy, I would visit my great grandmother, my “bubbie” who invited me into her kitchen to help. I was mesmerized watching her hands knead her delicious challah bread and mix the batter for her famous sugar cookies. She gave me creative freedom and expression as I helped decorate the cookies and she always gave me the spoon to lick as she put the trays in the oven. The smells of her kitchen have stayed with me to this day.
As I got older my love for cooking only got stronger. Whenever my mom needed kitchen help (which was daily), she put me to work as my older sisters were not too interested. It was there that I collected cuts, scrapes, and burns, loving every minute. As I entered my teenage years, I started helping in my local synagogue to prepare the after-service meals. The person who oversaw the meal prep owned a catering company and offered me my first paying job in the food industry. I started at the bottom doing dishes and bussing tables after school, on the weekends at the different events he had.
I worked my way up the ladder and by the time I was 19 I had an opportunity to go to Israel where I lived for over a year. While there I spent time on a kibbutz, where I found myself gravitate towards the kitchen. Chef Yossi, the executive chef, took an interest in me and my skill set. Taking me under his wing he taught me how to cater to a “kibbutz” middle eastern style of dining. We served up to 600 people daily. It was a new style of preparing and serving food for me.
I returned to the United States and was thrilled and excited to apply my new skills. I have been fortunate to have opportunities to continue my passion and grow with every position in the years that followed. By the time I was 26 I got my first executive chef/kitchen manager position, working in a Vegan raw cold kitchen. This allowed me to further refine my skills once again teaching me a whole new way of cooking. I have had the privilege of learning from some of the most amazing chefs, such as Chef Hanis Cavin, Chef Eral Schryver, and Chef Aarti Sanghavi. who taugh and mentored me into the chef I am today.
I am constantly learning and adapting new and creative techniques which is one of the reasons I love this industry. Over my 20-year career, I have developed skills and knowledge from cuisines of the world to put together some amazing dishes. As a personal chef, one of the main reasons I cook is because I love to bring joy and happiness to people through my food. I bring extraordinary recipes that feature fresh and flavorful ingredients, to satisfy your palette and nourish your senses, and soul. Whether a last-minute brunch, or an elaborate cocktail party; small gatherings or any occasion to celebrate, I will assure you an unforgettable experience.
“What shall we have for dinner?” Give me a call. I love cooking and hope to pass on my passion to you as I cook.
Looking forward to breaking bread with you!
